Uber then decided to cancel Serge Pricing. Later, the upfront fair feature was introduced for the convenience of customers, so that the customers would know how much they would have to pay for the journey. By the way, prices are still increased when the demand is high, but due to the new format, customers do not get much clarity about real surge pricing.
If you travel regularly on a particular route, then the Serz Pricing will not hide from you. For example, if you often pay 100 rupees and someday you see an estimated fare 300 rupees, you will probably not take a cab. But what will you do in the event of traveling on unknown route? The estimated fare you are looking at, is not even the surge pricing in it? How will you know about it? The way to know about all these things is very easy.
1. Open Google Maps and enter the name of your destination.
2. Now tap on the right side to know about the taxi.

You will start seeing Uber and Ola’s taxi options. Information about surge pricing will also be available with them. We tested it recently and found that it really works. As you will be able to see in the screenshot below, Uber said the price of the ride was Rs 192. At the same time, Google Maps revealed 1.5 times the surge pricing and the estimated fare was around Rs 200-240. After reaching the destination, we found that Uber’s bill mentioned 1.4 times the surge pricing. Google’s estimate was also around this.

This method is not 100 percent accurate, but if you want to know whether you are paying the appropriate rent for the journey, then it will prove to be beneficial for you.
