Ozone Hole on Antarctic shows improvement Might Fully Recover by 2066 Claims New Study

The continuous warmth of the Earth can now be said to be a cause of concern for every human being on this planet. The rising temperature of the earth every year is causing a severe outbreak of heat in some countries. Its far -reaching consequences are said to be very frightening. But in the meantime, a good news is also coming from the scientists. You must have heard about the ozone layer which is present in the Earth’s atmosphere and protects the organisms from the harmful rays of the sun as it prevents those rays from entering the atmosphere of the earth.

The ozone layer is getting thinner every year. Every year there is a big hole on Antarctica. Chemical and smoke emanating from industrial units causes great damage to this layer. But now a good news has come at the end of 2024. This year the hole seen in the ozen layer has been found to be small. That is, the loss that has not been recorded in it last year.

This shows that the ozone layer is getting recovered. Scientists of NOAA and NASA have monitored it from September to mid -October. They found that this time the hole in the ozone layer is the 7th smallest hole in history. That is, a very large hole has been seen seasonally in the ozone every year, but this time this hole has been found very small.

According to the report of Earth.com, an agreement was signed in 1992 to protect it called Montreal Protocol. Its contribution in reducing the damage caused by ozone has been reported. The purpose of the agreement is to reduce the amount of chlorofluoro carbon (CFC). This year, getting a small hole in the ozone is a direct evidence that the efforts have affected this layer.

According to Dr. Paul Numan, Head of Ozone Research in NASA, the 2024 Antarctic Ozone Hole is much smaller than the 2000 hole. It has been moving towards improvement for 2 decades, whose evidence is now being seen. However, this process is said to be very slow. But the chlorofluoro carbon present in the air is said to be slowly reduced. These can take several decades to end. Scientists estimate that the recovery goes on like this, then by 2066, the hole above the Antarctic in the ozone layer will be completely filled.
