Scientists invent artificial plant that cleans indoor air and generates electricity

Science often keeps making amazing discoveries. In today’s time, green energy is needed around the world. Given the rising global temperature, burning of fuels like coal and oil is making the earth more heating. But a team of scientists of Binghamton University in New York has made a very amazing invention. Here scientists have prepared an artificial plant which will not only clean the air of the house, but will also generate electricity. This electricity will be sufficient to charge a smartphone.

This artificial plant has five solar cells and synthetic bacteria have been used. Its five artificial leaves can generate electricity and also leave oxygen. Scientists claim (via) that this plant can eliminate carbon dioxide faster than other natural plants. According to the published study, the needs of this plant are also similar to other plants, for example, it requires water and nutrients so that it continues.

Scientists are saying that many more improvements will be made in the future version. Its maintenance will be less. Multiple bacteria species can be used in it. Talking about the plant, the researchers said that when its leaves are connected to a series to the plant structure, this system produces a current of 2.7 V. This can produce a maximum power of 140 µW that can charge portable electronic devices.

Currently, this artificial plant has been introduced as a concept. But this discovery is very important in modern times. Also, indoor plants are seen struggling for sunlight and are not able to provide much benefits. In such a situation, this artificial plant can prove to be a boon in purifying the indoor theature. It describes the ability to do photosynthesis in inner atmosphere. Therefore, this discovery in future will play a very important role in giving clean air.
